Welcome to Twist of Dave! A site dedicated to giving life a much needed twist through writing and web development.

Still Working Out the Kinks

June 10, 2008

Please bare with me as I work out the kinks of my site. Working all day at a computer can put a strain on the eyes, and sometimes after toiling over web site problems at work, the last thing I want to do is come home and work on something I’m not getting paid for.

I’m quite aware that sometimes my stylesheets aren’t being pulled (although they come through fine on my computer for some reason). When you first enter the site, one minute you are awe struck as the beautiful blog known as Twist of Dave gives your eyes a succulent feast to feed upon. Your eyes, wanting more, beg your hand to move the mouse to click a link to see more of the site, when all of a sudden.... BAM! No more fancy logo or colors. Just text. Good ole black and white, plain text. It makes me sad really.

What it comes down to is that I’m not too familiar with Expression Engine. While very powerful, it structures a site very different than what I’m use to. So I have to read up on Expression Engine, then I’m sure I’ll have to work on cleaning up the URI, and then I’ll have to make sure it looks good in Internet Explorer 6 and 7 (which it doesn’t right now).

I would have loved to do this on my local machine, but for some reason I can’t connect to my local database. Since this is live already, maybe I could start writing about my experience with Expression Engine and what I’m learning?
